ABOUT ME

My name is David Pennington, and I am a professional artist based in Fleetwood on Lancashire's beautiful Fylde Coast.

For more than three decades, I have dedicated my career to creating artwork that captures character, personality and lasting memories. My passion lies in transforming treasured photographs into unique, hand-painted works of art, specialising in pet portraits that celebrate the special bond between people and their animals.

Working primarily in oils and watercolour, I strive to create portraits that are both technically accomplished and emotionally engaging. Every commission is approached with care and attention to detail, ensuring that each piece reflects the individuality and spirit of its subject. Whenever possible, I enjoy meeting clients and their pets in person, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of their personality and create artwork that feels truly personal.

Alongside my portrait work, I have extensive experience as a technical and scientific vector artist, producing precise illustrations that combine creativity with accuracy. This diverse artistic background has helped shape my approach, balancing traditional craftsmanship with a strong eye for detail and composition. I have produced many illustrative figures for Universitiy research companies in Europe, with inclusions in top scientific magazines, both as articles and cover designs.

Living and working in Lancashire provides constant inspiration. The coastal landscape, combined with The Bowland Forest, changing light and strong sense of community found along the Fylde Coast and the North, continue to influence my work and creative outlook.

Whether I am painting a beloved family pet, creating a commissioned portrait, or working on a specialist illustration project, my goal remains the same: to produce artwork that people will treasure for years to come.

Art has been at the centre of my life for over thirty years, and I still approach every new commission with the same enthusiasm and commitment that inspired me when I first picked up a brush.
